Another crisp morning no sign of winter in our Bengaluru, so strange, in years for the first time there is no chill in the air, of course the horror of so called progress. We were a city of trees and lovely avenues, flowers and a thick green cover ,

 

so we have now of course modernity, concrete jungles, glass, glass everywhere, humongous traffic and pollution. Any way in all this my oasis is my crochet, so let’s talk about this. 

Today we are going to see some potlis or pouches, it is sweet, dainty, a very feminine accessory, ideal for an outing at any point of the day and for any occasion, I make them in nylon thread, as always very attractive colours and designs, I use embellishments or a contrast color unless you have a preference. These potlis can be made in wool also, this of course is a personal preference, I make them nice long strings and this makes easy to hold and also easy to close the bag. Sizes of different dimensions can be made.

doilies

Hello all, a new day, a new posting, Crochet is like tapestry, its delicate, lacy and rather feminine, a must for all women, also for anyone who is house proud. Crochet has so much to offer for the decor of one’s home, we have runners, doilies, mandalas, baskets, wall hangings, the list is quite exhaustive, today my emphasis is on doilies… so here goes

A doily is generally a centre piece to be used on you tables, a set of dollies called ‘duchess set’, is for your dressing table.  Mini  doilies can be used as coasters. These attractive doilies are made in cotton thread, they are delicate, lacy and intricate. There are some great colors and threads in the market. It is a great gift idea too, so have a look at some I have made, I love making them.

 A brand new week, promises to be crazy with various deadlines, am enjoying  this crazy rush. Xmas is a month away so it is apt to post a runner I have made in a snowflake pattern, it is six ft long, it took about 55 snowflakes and the joined them together, a great one for a festive occasion on your 

dining table.

oval mats

A pleasant evening, a family day, can’t ask for more right, but I offer you more in my repertoire   of my work ---- crochet, today I am posting mats in an oval shape.

These mats can be used as a dresser set, or you use it’s as   a centre piece or as table mats, I have used nylon thread also soft cotton thread, they can be made in soft or bright colors, I have edged some with a different colors. There is a blue oval mat made with matching coasters, as it was being given as a gift I have added a touch of silver.  Oval mats are my personal favorite.

mandalas

hello all. Mid November already, does time really fly? Many parts of India and the world are in for a winter, we at Bangalore are so lucky we have a bearable winter and rather good weather throughout the year except for peak summer. As I write my blog I look out at my balcony and see the sun slowly setting and see the twilight, my balcony looks over a lovely garden maintained expertly by our dedicated society, you would have figured out we love in an Apartment Complex.

So here is my posting for today, I am putting up pictures of ‘Mandala’,, this simply means a design in circles made of different colors, the origin of the word is from Sanskrit,  in India we are familiar with colorful ‘rangoli or kolam’, which is a practice in all our homes. So, Mandalas are based on this, it is also said mandala also has its origin in Africa and even New Zealand, any way the net result is, it is a colorful doily, which can be used as a decorative item either on your tables, you can make it a wall hanging or even frame it.

A new week, promises to be crazy, with some deadline to be met, guess it will be worth the while.Xmas is round the corner, so it is apt to post the runner I made it is a snowflake runner to adorn your dining table, it is six feet long. I have used around 55 motifs and then joined the together.

I have used four colors but it is your choice, the price would vary with the size, I have used a nylon thread so it is durable and washable, so give it a thought.

This particular piece would cost around Rs 4000.00, so let me know your opinions and requirements, bye folks.

hello all, Yesterday I posted a few bags, today am just posting some more bags, with a little change. I have made a black bag and a maroon bag with handles, an excellent accessorize for an evening out.

Hello all, well the weekend is almost over, it is a pleasant Sunday evening in Bangalore. Had a family day with my sisters and talked our head off over some hot coffee, with a promise to meet over a big time eating binge, a family of foodies, quite an addiction, annoying to most people other than the family, we are a happy group of cousins, full of laughter, chatter and Ah Eating, hey did I mention that before!!!!!!!

Now back to my other joy my crochet, this evening am posting some rather popular bags I have made, they are in bright, sober and classy colors, the sizes are varied, I will put up some pictures, please take a look. I make them in a thread called Malai Dori, which may be a little familiar to those who see my blog or my Face Book page.

 This is a silky, strong and feminine material. Bags look really nice, and can be made as clutch purses, cross bags, tote bags, hand bags etc. It is suitable for all ages. A bag of 12’’ in width and 10’’ in height will be around Rs 1500.00. I get them lined in satin, with a zip pouch in the inside and the main zipper.

 I can make it to your required size, of course price may vary if the dimensions are bigger or in two three colors.are required. Hello all, winter is here festive time what with new year and x mas, a great time for giving gifts, so I thought cushions are a great idea.   The cushions I make are colourful and vibrant bringing a lot of cheer and joy to the home, it also adds warmth due to the texture and patterns. I have used a Thread which is silky, lustrous, with a rich sheen, it is called ‘Malai Dori’, in Hindi which simply means ‘Creamy Thread’. Believe me it is gorgeous.I have made sizes of 16 by 16, 12by 12 and 10 by 10 all in inches. It can be customized as per your requirements,
. My rates are Rs 2,300.00, for a single 16” by 16”.  The 12’’ by 12’’ is Rs 1400.00 for a single piece and a 10’’ by 10”, single piece is Rs 1300. .
